Bosso battle for Mahachi clearance

WITH the 2014 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season registration deadline tomorrow, Highlanders had by yesterday morning still not received clearance letters from Chicken Inn for their new signings Felix Chindungwe and Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Chindungwe and Mahachi crossed floors to join the former league champions and have featured in two of the matches that they played in the past two weeks. Mahachi is now on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, but still needs to be cleared by his last local club to facilitate registration with the Bulawayo giants.
Chicken Inn secretary Tavengwa Hara said they were still to be approached as a club for the clearance of the two players.
"No one has requested them (clearances). There is no comment on that. If there is anyone who requests them, we will act upon it, but no one has requested them. At the moment, we have no comment," he said.
According to PSL regulations, a player who is on loan has to be cleared by the last club he turned out for.
In this case, Mahachi, who was on loan to Chicken Inn last season and signed a deal with South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, will have to be cleared by Chicken Inn.
Mahachi had also been on loan at Chicken Inn from then Division One side Bantu Rovers before his deal with Mamelodi Sundowns. He moves to the South African side in June as the club had exhausted it foreign quota.
Chindungwe's contract ended on December 31, but he is reported to have agreed terms with Chicken Inn before his departure for the African Nations Championships, although he did not sign a contract.
Highlanders chairman Peter Dube said they were addressing the issue.
"We are still attending to that. Whether we are talking to Chicken Inn or PSL, we are still attending to it," he said.
Mahachi's manager Mlungisi Moyo said: "Sundowns agreed to loan Mahachi to Highlanders. Highlanders should get the clearance from the previous club, Chicken Inn."
Highlanders' attempts to sign national team midfielder Danny "Deco" Phiri from Chicken Inn appear to have hit a brick wall with the player also said to have lost hope in joining the Bulawayo giants.
His agent Fortune Chisale is expected in Bulawayo today to meet Chicken Inn.
