The battle lines are drawn for the battle of Bulawayo that will see Highlanders and Chicken Inn battle it out in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) match that is scheduled for Barbourfields Stadium this Thursday.

Both sides will be looking for redemption, having dropped valuable points over the weekend with Highlanders drawing against Hwange at home and Chicken Inn drawing with Triangle United away in a match in which they took the lead.

Highlanders gaffer, Kevin Kaindu said the draw at home to Hwange last Sunday was due to the lack of creativity in midfield and the fact that they under performed in the second half when they allowed Chipangano to dominate possession, resulting in the coal miners staging a comeback.

Kaindu however believes his charges have learned from their disappointing experience against Hwange and will work on their mistakes ahead of what promises to be a fiercely fought derby.

"Against Hwange it was a game of two halves and I believe we played well in the first half, but we relaxed in the second, giving them a lot of time on the ball and allowing them to equalise," he said.

The Zambian coach however said the derby was going to be a different game altogether, acknowledging that the clash with their city rivals was going to be a difficult outing.

"The derby is going to be a difficult match because we are both aware of each other's strengths and weaknesses, but we will go into battle expecting maximum points and I believe everyone will rise to the occasion," said Kaindu.

On the other hand, Chicken Inn will also be hoping to bounce back after a not so pleasing trip to the Lowveld where they blew a first half lead, allowing Triangle United to equalise through a penalty in the 62nd minute after Moses Jackson had handled in the penalty area.

Chicken Inn secretary general, Tavengwa Hara said they played well over the weekend and were unlucky to concede a goal under controversial circumstances. Hara said the derby was going to be a mammoth task, but they would go for the kill so as to keep their home record intact, having not lost at home this season.

"We played very well against Triangle United and we managed to score first, but it was unfortunate that bad officiating helped bring the hosts back into the game," said Hara.

"Thursday's match (against Highlanders) is going to be tough, but we will give it our all since we want to keep our home record intact and the pressure is on them because we go into that game as the underdogs."

Chicken Inn have won once, lost once and drawn twice in their four league matches so far this season, while Highlanders are unbeaten after the same number of games, winning twice and drawing twice.
