THE country's top four soccer clubs Dynamos, Caps United, FC Platinum and Highlanders have been picked to play in the Commander ZNA's Charities Soccer Shield.

PSL yesterday confirmed giving the  green light to the Castle Lager Premiership teams to take part in the charity tournament.

According to an advert inserted by the Zimbabwe National Army public relations directorate, Dynamos will clash with Caps United at Rufaro Stadium on May 18.

On the same day, Southern Region giants Highlanders and FC Platinum will clash at Barbourfields Stadium.

The matches are set to raise funds for the ZNA charities with beneficiaries being army personnel and their dependants.

A number of schools across the country are run by the ZNA and they will be among the beneficiaries as will be Tsanga Lodge in Nyanga for recuperating injured soldiers.

In the course of the year the army holds several fundraising activities which include golf tournaments and a horse race.

PSL chief executive Kennedy Ndebele confirmed that the matches would be played on a weekend when the national team would be away. The Warriors will be away to Tanzania for an Afcon qualifier on that weekend.

He said the idea had been to have the tournament during the off-season but with national team activity they decided to use those gaps.

"We agreed in principle to work with the Zimbabwe National Army to assist. So on that weekend when the Warriors will be away the teams will play," said Ndebele.
