ZPC Kariba coach Saul Chaminuka has embraced the underdog tag as he prepares for a clash against table-toppers Highlanders on Sunday, but is not writing off the chances of his experienced side causing an upset.

The Zimbabwe Power Company-owned side has had a good season so far following their promotion into the top-flight league and they are unbeaten in six games with three wins and three draws.

Chaminuka's men are in second place on the log table tied on 12 points with leaders Highlanders but trail because of an inferior goal difference.

And while it looks like a more balanced affair between the two sides, Chaminuka believes their opponents have an upper hand going into the weekend's match.

"We are the underdogs, there is no doubt about that," Chaminuka told the Daily News yesterday.

"Highlanders have been consistent in the past and they would obviously want to maintain that. They obviously want to win the league this year and this gives them pressure.

"As for us we are treating each game as it comes. I am looking at the game against Highlanders as another step to survival. Our target is not to win the league but to survive relegation.

"Maybe we can start talking of the league next year. It's even too early to start talking of the title now. Thus for us to survive relegation we need to win matches and the Highlanders game is not exceptional.

"We also want to play that game and win so that we enhance our chances of surviving relegation."

In their last match, ZPC Kariba, who were promoted to the top-flight after winning the Northern Region Division One league last year, beat Triangle 5-1 to move into second place on the log.

ZPC have since shocked reigning league champions Dynamos 1-0, drew 1-1 against CAPS United, beaten Harare City 1-0 and forced a goalless draw against FC Platinum.

Highlanders will, however, be no easy stroll in the park for ZPC as they mercilessly blew CAPS United to pieces with a 4-0 victory on Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium.

Today: Harare City v Triangle United (Rufaro Stadium, SS).

Tomorrow: CAPS United v Black Rhinos (National Sports Stadium, SS), Chicken Inn v How Mine (Luveve), Chiredzi v Chapungu (Chishamiso).

Sunday: ZPC Kariba v Highlanders (Gwanzura, SS), Shabanie Mine v Dynamos (Maglas), Buffaloes v FC Platinum (Sakubva), Hwange v Bantu Rovers (Colliery).
