CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League title-chasing Highlanders could be plunged into a goalkeeper crisis if media reports in South Africa that Ariel Sibanda is on his way to newly-promoted Absa Premier Soccer League side Chippa United are true.
Soccer Laduma of South Africa yesterday claimed Sibanda who has become Bosso's number one shotstopper ahead of Warriors' third choice Munyaradzi Diya, will be joining Chippa United next month.
Diya was last week reported to be sought after by Mpumalanga Black Aces, but Highlanders have quashed the reports.
Highlanders' chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede yesterday said: "There is nothing like that. Where are you getting that from? It's actually news to us," Gumede said.
Soccer Laduma quoted Highlanders head coach Kelvin Kaindu saying: "As a team, we wish all the players moving to South Africa the best and we have to keep on building. There is nothing much we can do at the moment."
Kaindu was not reachable for a comment yesterday.
If the reports are true, Bosso will be left with Njabulo Nyoni, who joined the Bulawayo giants from neighbours Chicken Inn.
Highlanders already have three players leaving for South Africa - on loan Kuda Mahachi, who is headed for Mamelodi Sundowns, Milton Ncube for Ajax Cape Town and Peter "Rio" Moyo for Mpumalanga Black Aces.
