Ajax Hotspurs and FMH Academy share the spoils in the Byo Junior league

Ajax Hotspurs Under 18 (0) 1 - (1) 1  F.M.H Academy Under 18

Ajax failed to beat F.M.H Academy under 18 at home in this thriller of a match that kept the fans spellbound with action swinging from one end to the other. Hotspurs who were missing a host of players to the schools team tournement at Milton never showed any signs of weaknesses with their gritty display in midfield and their pacy strike force led by Edwin Sotsha Muziri a hand full to F.M.H Academy.

However lapse in concentration by Frank Muzii allowed the evergreen Bright 'Nyonyo' Dzowa to ghost in and when he came charging towards goal goalkeeper Vincent Chidembo came out of his line and clashed with the F.M.H talisman. The referee did not hesitate as he rightly pointed to the spot and up-stepped Dzowa to beat Chidembo.

The goal was what the doctor ordered as Hotspurs came out blazing from all angles in the exciting second half and were duly rewarded with a penalty of their own after Divine Magayiva Lunga was brought down in the box.

Upstepped Thembani 'Taxie' Mpofu who could not believe his eyes when the goalkeeper dived full lenghth to punch his spot kick back into play and there was no taker for the second ball. However, Hotspurs refused to throw in the towel and they were rewarded for their tenacity when Sotsha outran the defence rounded the keeper to slot the ball into an empty net .

Ajax Hotspurs then threw everything at FMH Academy in search of an elusive winner and when Magayiva hit an underside with everyone on the field of play in celebration,


This probably was the fairest result for both sides but it was an opportunity lost for Ajax Hotspurs to displace their opponents on the log standings. In the under 14s Ajax Hotspurs walloped F.M.H 2-0 whilst the under 16s were 2-1 winners over the Academy side.
