Bosso executive backs under-fire coach

The Highlanders executive has backed under-fire coach Kelvin Kaindu following weekend's humiliation 4-1 defeat by Dynamos in the TM Pick n Pay Challenge Cup final at the National Sports Stadium.
Bosso, who have failed to beat Dynamos in a competitive match since 2006, continue to suffer at the hands of their fiercest rivals and have already lost four times to Dembare this season alone.
In recent meetings, Bosso have been competitive, only losing to Dembare by narrow margins which made Saturday's thrashing hard to swallow for their demanding fans.
In the league title race, Highlanders are in second place on the table, trailing Dynamos by three points with eight games to go before the season ends.
Another second-place finish in the league will be hard to comprehend for the club as they have finished behind Dembare only on goal difference for the past two seasons.
Despite this sorry record, Highlanders chairman Peter Dube said the club is firmly behind Kaindu and are still hopeful that this season the Zambian can deliver them their first league title since 2006.
"We as a club always wish for the best and Kaindu is the man tasked to bring the results. Yes we lost to Dynamos over the weekend but we still have to focus on other games to come," Dube told the Daily News yesterday.
"We have not as an executive discussed any action on the coach, we are still where we were last week and we will support the coach and the team to get results."
After the weekend defeat, many Bosso fans and pundits blamed Kaindu for failing to instil a winning mentality at the famous Bulawayo club.
Since arriving at the club at the beginning of the 2011 season, Kaindu's main success was leading Bosso to the Mbada Diamonds Cup last year.
Kaindu is not losing faith in his players and believes Highlanders will emerge stronger after the Dembare humiliation.
"I have faith in these players. They are the same players who have brought smiles to the supporters," said Kaindu.
"After the loss to Dynamos, I believe we can redeem our lost pride. I think it's all psychological. We have to work on the players' mentality and keep focused.
"The players need support from everyone and I believe they will bring the glory and smile to the multitude of the Bosso fans."
