Angry Highlanders Football Club fans have told club Chief Executive Officer Ndumiso Gumede to "shut up and go to hell."

The fans' anger come in the wake of a Southern Eye news report where the veteran football administrator is quoted as having told non card carrying supporters of the big club to keep quiet and not force decisions on the club.

"GENERAL SUPPORTERS" KEEP QUIET, LET THE CARD CARRYING MEMBERS AND THOSE WITH THE FINANCIAL MUSCLE SPEAK - GUMEDE" screamed the Southern Eye Newspaper headlines where Gumede is said to have made the statement that has angered the fans.

"People who do not play a significant monetary role (in the club) should not say so and so must go. The people who are members and NOT JUST THE GENERAL SUPPORTERS have that mandate. We respect all our supporters and their support, but they must leave the decision to the office bearers that they elected."

"If we let everyone decide who stays and who goes, we will not have a club to talk about. Look at what happened to Zimbabwe Saints. Where are they? That is what happens if you do not honour your hierarchy," Gumede is quoted in the paper.

Gumede's statement comes after a heavy 4 - 1 Bosso loss to perennial rivals Dynamos in Harare over the weekend which Highlanders have failed to accept. The fans have gone on a massive call for the dismissal of not only coach Kelvin Kaindu, but the entire squad, officials and administrators at the club.

Gumede's statement has not only been received unkindly by the Highlanders fans but also by die hard Zimbabwe Saints supporters who still claim to be supporting their now defunct team. In his statement Gumede alluded the collapse of Zimbabwe Saints to interference from the fans which the Saints fans have rubbished.

"This man is crazy, we are mourning the problems around our team which is collapsing because of lack of sponsorship and he comes out laughing," said Francis Banda a staunch Zimbabwe Saints supporter.

"We have always believed that Highlanders and Saints are brothers somehow but for Gumede to speak like this is very irresponsible from an old man. Maybe he should go back to retirement," added Banda.

Angry some unprintable words are being paddled to Gumede in the various Bosso social media platforms generally telling the veteran administrator to "keep quite than say such unfortunate statements." According to the fans, it is them that fill up the stadiums week in week out when Highlanders plays and not only the card carrying members and so they have every right to make a call into the running of the club.

"That kind of thinking is very disastrous. Can the stadium be filled by card carrying members and those with financial muscle all the time when the team plays? I didn't expect this kind thinking from Gumede," says Milton Nkomo.

Ishmael Hlabangana sends a very strong message to Gumede;

"Uyahlanya wena Gumede sibhadala imali, leyo mali esiyibhadalayo yiyo eliyintshontsha beselisiba lomsila, selidli le imali zethu selisitshela ukuthi sithule, dinga eyinye indlela yokukhuluma, ngoba okusalayo inhlamba zizakulandela,"

In his first statement on Monday after the loss in Harare, Gumede raise ire for himself when he said that the world will never come to an end because Highlanders lost to Dynamos. Betani Ndlovu a 55 year old die hard Bosso fan did not receive Gumede's comment kindly.

"I think Harare corrupts, this is not the kind of Gumede we know before he went to stay in Harare. Gumede of all people knows that our worlds come to an end when Bosso loses worse to Dynamos. Some of us don't eat, don't even go to work and even deny our wives their rights when Bosso loses. Which other world does he want to see come to an end?" fumed the man who is virtually always in black and white the Highlanders colours. Ndlovu rides a bicycle with a message "obone mina ubone iBosso, oqala iBosso uqale mina."

"The world will not come to an end because Highlanders was beaten by Dynamos..." said Gumede early in the week.

Gumede was appointed by the Highlanders executive to the position of Chief Executive Officer after he retired from a similar position at the top of Zimbabwean Football at ZIFA. He has previously been a chairman at Highlanders and it was during his tenure that Bosso were at some of their best years. Comment could not be sourced from Gumede as his mobile phone was not reachable.
