Chrispen Machisi formed a formidable understanding in Ajax Hotspurs midfield with Mburayi, Muduhwa and Gumede
Ajax Hotspurs completed a double over Amin Soma-Phiri's Luveve Big XI with a masterclass display that left Phiri and his charges scratching their heads. After going down 2-0 in the first round fixture, Phiri promised to silence Hotspurs all week but the defiant youngstars had other ideas as they dominated play from the onset in search of an elusive win.
Young Peter Muduhwa was outstanding all afternoon covering every blade of the field with a disciplined performance that was worth winning any match. The talented linkman was full of energy excellent in defence and immaculate in attack. Muduhwa was well complemented by the trio of Thulani Gumede, Chrispen Machisi and Maxwell Mburayi who outran and outfoxed Soma-Phiri's side with their mobility and intricate passing panctuated by good on and off the ball running.
Mburayi who has been having a purple patch could have given his side the lead as early as the 8th minute when Nqobilizwe Ncube's run deceived the entire Big XI defence but Mburayi's volley just drifted wide. Ncube and Kingsley Best were full of running the whole afternoon troubling the home side's defence every time they had the ball. The second half saw the away side up the tempo and they were duly awarded with a flashing header off Best to silence an otherwise over confident Big XI. Best finally made way for young under 18 development player Prince "Mpinju" Hlabangane who showed some flashes of brilliance lace with great intelligence and anticipation that underlined Hotspurs investment in youth development.
