The Battle of Zimbabwe featuring Highlanders and Caps United at Barbourfields hangs in the balance following reports that Caps United players are refusing to travel to fulfil the match.

It is said the players are adamant they want their dues before they can get on the bus.

Recently Caps United players yesterday boycotted their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter against How Mine at Luveve Stadium due to non-payment of salaries and allowances, allowing the Bulawayo side to walk away with three points on a 3-0 scoreline.

Just like the match against Bosso, it was supposed to be broadcast live on SuperSport 9.

SuperSport had already mounted their equipment ready to broadcast the match, but had to dismantle everything after being informed that the match had been cancelled.

The match had attracted a good number of supporters, estimated to be around 2 000 as Caps have a huge fan base in Bulawayo, but, alas, it was not to be as by 1400hrs reports, had started to filter via social media that the players were boycotting the match.

The Caps United players traveled to Bulawayo, but are said to have refused to play demanding that they be paid their dues after they had reportedly been promised that their outstanding monies would be reflecting in their accounts on arrival in the City of Kings.

That failed and the players allegedly hired a commuter omnibus to take them back to Harare, but disgruntled Caps fans followed the team and caught up with them near Ntabazinduna, some 40km away from Bulawayo.

The fans ordered the commuter omnibus back to the city and the driver duly complied, but headed straight to Bulawayo Central Police station where the players took refuge and refused to leave until their dispute was resolved.
