HIGHLANDERS FC suffered huge financial loses during its weekend clash with rivals Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium.

Technically the club is broke.

Bosso grossed $55 467 in gate takings but ended up with $25 964.

Bulawayo City Council took the largest chunk of the money taking a cool $11 093 for the stadium hire while the PSL took $3 771 with Zifa and the Sports and Recreation Commission getting $3 328 each.

The police received $3 631 while match officials shared $908.

So far this is the most that Highlanders have made in a PSL match this year after grossing $22 975 in the Caps United match.

The club has always bemoaned the deployment of police details as it far exceeds any of the other matches including the Dynamos/Highlanders encounter in Harare.

"As at Sunday by 5:30pm we had $25 964, but today (yesterday) we are back to zero," Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede said.

He said the club had cleared most of the debts they owe to creditors.

"By Monday, it was distributed to everyone who has an account with us. We paid what was due to them and the money that we borrowed to avert potentially embarrassing situations," said Gumede.

In terms of the number of police officers deployed for their match, Gumede said it was worrying that they had more officers than any other match.
