FORMER Highlanders chairman Roger Muhlwa has appealed to the club's supporters to go easy on the executive saying there were only a few games left before the season ends. He also challenged the executive to step down honourably if things are not working as planned.

The fiery Muhlwa, who was chairman when Bosso lifted their first of four league titles in 1999 before stepping down after refusing to pardon the then treasurer Lazarus Sibanda for misappropriating club funds, said removing the Peter Dube-led executive with just six games to go was not ideal.

"Honestly, what will a new person do with just six games to go? Who in his right senses would want to take over a dead thing, for what? So let these guys go through the season and then see what happens as we prepare for 2016," said Muhlwa.

"Things must be done in an amicable way rather than violently. A number of factors are contributing to the team's poor showing, among them the country's economic situation". He said since all other variables like coaches and players have been changed, there was a need for some more drastic measures to be taken; measures that ordinarily general supporters would not take.

Muhlwa said the executive must take such decisions. "How many coaches have they (executive) changed in two seasons? The executive members have really been given enough time and for now we just need to survive relegation and start afresh next year, but if they feel they have failed, which is the general feeling anyway, then really there is a need to do the honourable thing bezinuke amakhwapha," he said.

Muhlwa said he knew Dube personally as a man of principle who would not hesitate to step aside if he felt what he was doing was not for the good of the club.

Highlanders fell to their 10th defeat of the season against bogey side Caps United in a 1-3 thumping at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday. Bosso's number of defeats is only bettered by the bottom three clubs Whawha, Flame Lily and Dongo Sawmill, who have 12, 11 and 12 losses respectively.

Highlanders remain 10th on the league table, a massive 21 points behind leaders Chicken Inn, but just six points from the drop zone, and they need 13 points from their remaining six games to survive the chop.

It means Bosso have to win at least four games and draw one to secure their Premiership status next year.
