Local football analysts have raised concern over Harare's monopoly of international soccer matches which they say should also be taken to other parts of the country.

Despite the successful hosting of the Zimbabwe-Liberia game at the National Sports Stadium a fortnight ago, a fresh debate has surfaced with critics pointing out the need to spread national team games to other stadia across the country.

Former warriors' midfielder, Stanford "Stix" Mtizwa believes people in other cities also deserve a chance to witness international matches, highlighting the balance that was struck in the hosting of national team games during his playing days.

"During our playing days, national team matches would be played in various stadia, with Bulawayo's Barbourfields being among the top priorities for match organisers," he said.

Veteran football commentator, Admire Taderera concurred with Mutizwa though also acknowledging the need to consider factors such as costs.

In the past, Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo used to play hosts to some Under 17, under 20 and under 23 matches as well as Cosafa senior challenge matches.

However, of late Harare has monopolised all national team matches.

Some critics say Harare supporters are not the best in the trade as normally the Caps United-Dynamos rivalry spills to the national side thus affecting Warriors games.
