THE new Zifa leadership yesterday flexed their muscles by sacking the entire Warriors' technical team led by Callisto Pasuwa in a move likely to send shockwaves to the local football fraternity.
Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship winning coach with Chicken Inn Joey Antipas was immediately named as Pasuwa's replacement.
Pasuwa was fired alongside his lieutenants Nation Dube, Saul Chaminuka, Richard Tswatswa and fitness trainer Majaha Ndlovu.
In a statement last night, acting Zifa president Omega Sibanda, who did not give reasons for the surprise sackings, said the appointments are with immediate effect.
"At an extraordinary meeting of the Zifa national executive committee on December 17, 2015, in Harare, it was resolved that the entire technical team for the men's national team headed by Callisto Pasuwa be relieved of its duties. National team camp is hereby dissolved with immediate effect and new camp dates will be announced in due course," said Sibanda.
Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya is the new first assistant while former Bosso assistant coach Mandla "Lulu" Mpofu will be the second assistant in the new set up.
Legendary former Highlanders' goalkeeper Peter "Captain Oxo" Nkomo replaces Tswatswa as the goalkeepers' coach, while former Under-20 team manager Wellington Mpandare is the new Warriors' manager.
Veteran coach and outgoing Highlanders' interim technical director Cosmas "Tsano" Zulu makes a surprise return to national team structures as a fitness trainer and liaison officer, replacing Ndlovu.
Farai Muguwe comes in as the team's physiotherapist with a Togarepi as the team doctor.
The new technical team will take charge of the 2016 Chan tournament and the 2017 African Cup of Nations' campaign.
