Highlanders dragging Knox deal

Highlanders could jeopardise Knox Mutizwa's move to South African Premier Soccer League side Bidvest Wits following revelations that the club is dragging its feet in concluding the deal.
Mutizwa, who is the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League 2015 Top Goal Scorer, made the grade and Wits are said to have asked Bosso to say how much they want but have not done so.
Mutizwa, 22, was expected to sign for the South African club this week, but it looks like he will have to wait a bit longer.
Highlanders' chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede yesterday said the club's hierarchy would decide Mutizwa's price tag.
"There are no developments with regards to Mutizwa's move to Wits. The last we heard was when his manager (Gibson Mahachi) told us that the boy had made the grade and Highlanders is supposed to name their price. Unfortunately, the executive didn't meet on Monday as the chairman (Peter Dube) was out of the country and his deputy Mgcini Mpofu was in Harare. The club's position will be known after the executive meeting," said Gumede.
It is likely that Mutizwa's deal will now drag into the new year.
Highlanders closed for the holiday yesterday and will reopen their office on January 5.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Easycall Cup final between Highlanders and Chicken Inn, Mahachi said he hoped the deal was going to be concluded by last Tuesday.
"What I know is that Knox made the grade and they (Wits) have indicated that they shall be engaging Highlanders about his services. All things being equal, I think the deal will be concluded by Tuesday," said Mahachi.
Mahachi's mobile phone rang unanswered yesterday.
A source close to the club said Highlanders are hoping to cash in on Mutizwa and probably get double the prize they got from selling Thomas Chideu to Ajax Cape Town. Bosso reportedly got $40,000 for Chideu.
"The club is hoping to get at least twice the amount they got from Ajax. They are also hoping that Mutizwa, who is also the Soccer Star of the Year finalist, will fetch more than the $80,000 that Chicken Inn got from Tendai Ndoro's move to Mpumalanga Black Aces a few years back," said the source.
