HIGHLANDERS' electoral court yesterday approved the nomination papers of all candidates that will be vying for the two posts of executive vice-chairman and treasurer during elections set for February 7.
The Harare-based duo of Modern Ngwenya and incumbent vice-chairman Mgcini Sibhalo Mpofu, as well as Kenneth Mhlophe and Nkosinathi Ncube all successfully filed their nomination papers for the vice-chairmanship, while incumbent Donald Ndebele and Charles Ndlovu were approved for the treasurer's race.
All the six candidates' nomination papers passed the verification process in accordance with the club's constitution, which states that all candidates must be fully paid up members who have not defaulted in subscriptions for the past two years and have also not been convicted of any wrong doing in the 10 years preceding their nomination under Article 9.1.
Highlanders' board vice-chairman Jonathan Sayi Moyo said they were impressed with the candidates as their nomination papers had not caused any headaches.
"We sat down as the electoral court and verified each and every nomination paper and we can tell you that all the candidates passed the verification process that was done in accordance with our constitution and what's left is for them to be presented to the voters," said Moyo.
The six candidates will be presented to the voters after the club's annual general meeting that will be held on January 31 at the clubhouse.
