ORGANISERS of the Bob92 ZIFA Super Cup have assured Dynamos and Highlanders, who are set to clash in this year's tournament, that each club will be rewarded with some prize money.
The first leg is on this Sunday at Barbourfields and the final game will be played on March 19 at the National Sports Stadium.
The tournament has since been rebranded and is now being organised by ZIFA.
Speaking at a Press briefing at ZIFA House, the organisers, led by spokesperson Charles Mabika and Stan Kasukuwere, said this year's tournament would be different.
They said they were in the process of securing sponsorship for the prestigious cup.
Mabika said they will reveal the prize money figures after finalising with the sponsors they are courting.
"At this moment we are not able to say how much the prize money will be. Sponsors are coming on board and we will notify you in due course," said Mabika.
Highlanders vice-chairman Modern Sikhuthele Ngwenya said they were geared for the Super Cup and taking on bitter rivals Dynamos.
"They are the biggest team in the land and our boys are training hard and there is a lot of excitement and anticipation.
"We have a new coach from abroad and so we want to win this cup. There are a lot of young and experienced players, so I want to promise you there will be thunder on Sunday," said Ngwenya.
Dynamos treasurer Webster Marechera, who accompanied the team to Malawi, said they returned home on Monday night and will resume training this morning.
"We heard about the tournament when we were in Malawi and we are prepared for the two games. We arrived on Monday evening, gave the players a rest and will resume training on Wednesday (today).
"We are loyal to our President and to our country, so we will go and play the match and we will hear from the organisers what they have to say about our prize money," said Marechera.
Marechera said the team was in good shape despite failing to score a goal in Malawi.
"We drew in our last game in Malawi and lost 1-0 in the first game against the same team but our performance there was okay and we were not even supposed to lose that game.
"But it is still pre-season and there is nothing to worry about and for now we are concentrating on Sunday's game," said Marechera.
The former champions have gone for 270 hours of football action without scoring a goal, something which might be cause for concern for new coach Jorge Silva
Yesterday the club's executive, led by president Kenny Mubaiwa and Webster Chikengezha and the technical team, had been expected to meet and thrash out a number of issues related to the Portuguese coach.
Mubaiwa said the meeting will now be held today and they will address all those issues as the club was not comfortable with the bad publicity they continue to receive.
Silva has been reported to be clashing with his backroom staff.
The expatriate coach has a fiery temper and has also clashed with some local journalists.
