Highlanders forward Knox Mutizwa is set to leave for South Africa to temporarily join his new team Bidvest Wits next week

The Warriors striker, who won the 2015 Golden Boot award after netting 14 times in the Castle Lager Premiership, will link up with the Absa Premiership outfit for a four-day training stint.

Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede confirmed Mutizwa's departure during the Bulawayo giants' weekly press briefing yesterday afternoon.

"He is wanted by his club from Monday, for a week's assessment," Gumede said.

"So if you don't see him don't be surprised. It's official; I got the official letter from Gibson Mahachi (Mutizwa's manager). Bidvest will love to have Knox with them."

Mutizwa had two stints of trials with the Braamfontein-based club last year before he was signed after he impressed coach Gavin Hunt and his technical team with his performances and high work rate.

Mutizwa will return to start the season with Bosso and will only go back to South Africa around June shortly before they commence their 2016-17 season.

The 22-year-old will on a regular basis travel to Braamfontein between now and June before he makes his final departure to join his new teammates for pre-season training.

At Wits, Mutizwa will join fellow Zimbabwean Onismor Bhasera, who has been on the books of the Clever Boys since 2013. A product of the Highlanders junior development programme, Mutizwa made his first team debut in 2011.

Since then, he has steadily rose to be a crucial member of the Bulawayo giants' first team.

But it was last season when he finally blossomed into a feared striker leading the Bosso line with aplomb.

After landing the Golden Boot, Mutizwa was also voted among the 11 best players in the local Premiership.
