Rainbow Hotel 0 - 1 Ajax Hotspurs
Young Prince "Mpinju" Hlabangane buried home his twelveth league goal in 12 games as Ajax Hotspurs signed out for the league in style with an immaculate display punctuated by sumptuous individual play that kept fans captivated and on the edge of their seats.
It came as no surprise when captain fantastic Maxwell Mburayi disected the Rainbow defence with a defence splitting pass that saw young Mpinju scampering through on goal with Rainbow's Leo in check. The goalkeeper tried to advance and close the gap but Mpinju is a player with great confidence and he masterfully stroked the ball under the armpit of the bemused keeper and into the yawning net 1-0 and the young Ajax Hotspurs lads were cruising.
Rainbow who had began the season with an identical 1-0 win Ajax Hotspurs at Somhlolo stadium koBango thought they were going to have a stroll in the park against a schoolboy looking Ajax Hotspurs side but they got more that what they had bargained for as the Ajax Hotspurs side pushed the ball around with great applomb with teenage sensation Essien holding fort in midfield allowing Divine Mcgyver Lunga and Chrispen Machisi to carve open the Rainbow wing-backs but their deliveries into the D-zone found Thulani Thuske Gumede and Mpinju too elaborate.
Former Ajax and Railstars star Lucky Killer gave Rainbow some hope with some incisive runs down the right wing channel but either found Innocent Kawema at sea or young Jefrey Jengwa and Bhekithemba Malobha Mabhena impregnable.. The defence of Ajax Hotspurs has been magnificent earning a third best defensive spot after Champions Tsholotsho Pirates and Sizani Fruits and Vegetables. The two sides were promoted into Division One.
Written off as relegation candidates after drawing an amazing 15 games, Hotspurs showed that they were a team in ascendency with a great developmental plan that saw many youngstars promoted into the team and the young lads repaid the confidence shown in them by the coaches with a strong second half of the season display that left the doubting Thomasses green with envy and their display today was an icing on the cake as they tore Rainbow into shreds but failed to hit as many past this hapless side third in the promotion bracket.
However Rainbow had their fair chances as well especially in the second half where they tried to camp in the Ajax Hotspurs half with a wave after waive of attack aided by the strong winds but all this was indeed blown away by the strong winds and Hotspurs used the counter attack with so much calculation that Rainbow nearly paid dearly for it. Chrispen Machisi in a moment of brilliance niked Killer aith an exquisite piece of skill on the goal line leaving him bamboozled he then charged into the 18yards before his step-overs left the next defender embarrased and had no choice but to take off Machisi's legs as he went on overdrive for the kill. However to the utter dismay from the appreciative neutrals the referee waved play on and booked Machisi for diving.
