HIGHLANDERS FC board chairman Mgcini Nkolomi has rubbished rumours that the club has been sold saying club regulations would have to be followed if such a move would be made.
Social media was awash with reports that Highlanders had been sold to a Bindura businessman to alleviate the financial crisis the club is facing.
The reports drew outrage from from Bosso fans.
However, Nkolomi described the rumours as "utter nonsense" saying only club members can approve such a move and the board or executive could not do it behind their back.
"That is not true, it is absolute nonsense and it's just the fertile imagination of the author," said Nkolomi.
Highlanders' growing debt and precaurious financial situation saw the board call for an informal meeting with club members next Saturday which they hope to use to come up with ways of raising funds for the club which is struggling to pay players and the technical bench's winning bonuses.
Nkolomi said the meeting will be seeking input from members on how to deal with the financial situation.
