OLIVER Mtukudzi could be the Michael Jordan of Zimbabwe's music and probably he's a good choice for the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s African charm offensive.
As such Mtukudzi has partnered with the Africa branch of the popular American sports league, the National Basketball League (NBA).
The superstar made the announcement on his official Instagram page this week, posting pictures of himself alongside NBA Vice-President and Managing Director Amadou G Fall.
The star's page was vague about the extent of his ambassadorial role with NBA Africa choosing only to state that "we will witness some amazing stuff from this partnership."
The star's manager Sam Mataure was also not available to give further details of the partnership between one of Africa's most iconic musicians and NBA Africa, which is tasked with overseeing the growth of the league on the continent.
The deal seems to have been facilitated by Ngoma Nehosho founder Wellington Wanyanya, who also posted an image of Tuku seemingly sealing the deal with the NBA Africa boss.
"I walk with men that have impacted the world so much that they their names are forever written in the history books. Men among men. What I believe is my greatest strength is to bring together such people. We will witness some amazing stuff from this partnership," he posted.
NBA Africa's promotion efforts reach fever pitch with the NBA Africa Game which will see some of the continent's stars take on the best from the rest of the world. This year's match takes place on 5 August in Johannesburg.
