Sibanda Byo Champion!

When defending champion, Castro Sibanda of NUST Chess Club pulled out of this year's BCA Byo Championships, there was veiled relief among the other 9 competitors.

Kudakwashe Sibanda also of NUST Chess Club took the opportunity and turned the veiled relief into open agony for the other competitors. He won all but one game as he was crowned 2014 BCA Byo Champion.

Sibanda had a remarkable 8/9 score with second placed Sifiso Ncube of ZRP Byo Chess Club on 6/9.

The competition was stiff and Sibanda would be the first to admit it was no walkover.

Receiving his winner's trophy Sibanda jokingly thanked his compatriot for pulling out.

He also expressed appreciation to all competitors and organisers for a great Championship.
