Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) is pushing for the arrest of former president Cuthbert Dube following his failure to provide written response on how his former executive ended up accruing a debt of $7 million.

Ex-president Dube and his former board were given seven days to explain the $7 million debt that the association accrued during their tenure according to the findings of a commission of inquiry that was commissioned by the Sports and Recreation Commission last year.

The other members of the then Dube executive included Twine Phiri, Fungai Chihuri, secretary general Jonathan Mashingaidze and John Phiri while former Women Football leader Miriam Sibanda, Elliot Kasu and Elizabeth Langa together with suspended Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede were all compelled to respond.

And yesterday a miffed Chiyangwa said they were left with no other option but to report the matter regarding Dube and his former executive to the Zimbabwe Republic Police because they were not forthcoming with the required information.

"We have tried to engage Dube and his team in a more professional basis but they chose to ignore us therefore, we are now handing over Cuthbert Dube and his cabal to the police maybe that is the only language they can understand," Chiyangwa told the Daily News.

"He snubbed us at a time we sought to give them audience on how the debt reached such alarming levels but one can't take people for granted and fool everyone, he has to be answerable to the queries raised which is why we are taking the matter to the police."

Zifa also resolved to maintain the number of teams relegated this season at two but increased the number of teams being promoted to four meaning that if adopted the Premier Soccer League will have 18 teams up from 16 for the 2017 season.

The association also lifted the suspension of CAPS United board chairperson Lewis Uriri.
