Govt expresses concern over Chiyangwa's administration

The Minister of Sport and Recreation Makhosini Hlongwane says government is concerned with events in football that have seen some officials suspended during squabbles over relegation play-offs and the way the most popular game is being administrated.

Addressing the media on the state of football in the country, Honourable Hlongwane said the recent events in football which have seen administrators being suspended over squabbles on relegation play-offs were a major concern.

He said the role of football leadership should be to put in place functional structures with clearly defined roles for every player right from grassroots and to avoid unnecessary squabbles which affect both the growth of the game and investments into the sector.

The minister appealed for sanity to prevail and implored stakeholders to find amicable ways of resolving of disputes.

He warned football administrators that the Ministry of Sport and Recreation would not tolerate further actions that jeopardise the credibility and growth of the beautiful game of football.
