Dynamos FC has closed the door on coach Calisto Pasuwa after contract
renewal talks sensationally broke down between the two parties, Daily
News reported.
Since Tuesday, Pasuwa and the club's executive have been on the negotiation table trying to reach an agreement but to no avail.
With no common ground reached in the last three days, Dynamos executive management chairman Kenny Mubaiwa told the Daily News that they are now looking for a new coach.
"We have withdrawn the contract we had offered Pasuwa and we are now inviting coaches who would like to coach Dynamos next year to apply for the job," Mubaiwa said.
"Today (yesterday) as an executive we held a meeting where we agreed that we could not meet his huge financial demands.
"Since Tuesday we have tried to negotiate with him, but I think there were some people who were wrongly advising Pasuwa because his demands were not realistic.
" He wanted us to pay him $12 000 per month plus another $10 000 as signing-on fees for him to renew the contract."
Pasuwa's current contract with the Castle Premiership and Mbada Diamonds Cup winners ends on December 31.
After that date, the Glamour Boys can now enter into a deal with a new coach.
Some of the names that have been thrown into the fray are Zambian Keegan Mumba and Motor Action assistant coach David George.
Club legends Sunday Chidzambwa and Moses Chunga are also the other options Dynamos can exploit.
Mubaiwa was disappointed with the way the talks crumbled considering that they had snatched Pasuwa out of obscurity to lead the country's most successful and popular club.
"We have come a very long way with Pasuwa and it pains us to see him hold us to ransom when we are the very people who stood by him when the fans refused to accept him," said Mubaiwa.
"People wanted to beat us up when we first appointed Pasuwa and I still remember his very first game in charge against Shooting Stars some fans said they would vandalise our vehicles if the team lost. Despite all this we had confidence in his ability and I'm glad we gave him the chance to showcase to everyone what he can do until people started believing in him."
Pasuwa took charge of Dynamos at the start of August when the club sacked Lloyd Mutasa after a string of disappointing results.
With FC Platinum threatening to run away with the league title, Pasuwa restored the belief in the Dynamos squad and they were able to overhaul a 12-point deficit.
The club also went on to clinch the inaugural Mbada Diamonds Cup by beating Motor Action 1-0 in the final at the National Sports Stadium at the end of November.
