On Friday Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa finally inked a three-year contract to end weeks of bitter bargaining between the title-winning gaffer and the DeMbare executive over the size of his salary.
The breakthrough between Pasuwa and the Dynamos leadership followed the intervention of Dynamos legend Moses Chunga, the interim chairman of the recently formed Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Union (ZSCU) who played a mediatory role.
The latest development, which must come as a huge relief to the faithful of Zimbabwe's most popular football club, was announced at a hastily arranged press conference at Dynamos' National Sports Stadium offices, attended by Dynamos chairman Kenny Mubaiwa, secretary Nyika Chifamba and Chunga.
"For the past three or four weeks, it has been the Dynamos/Pasuwa issue in the media but today we have finally reached an agreement. He has finally signed a three-year contract," a delighted Mubaiwa told reporters.
Mubaiwa was, however, not prepared to divulge contents of Pasuwa's contract or reveal how the two parties reached a compromise.
"We agreed not to mention figures. We have agreed on a figure which we cannot reveal."
Pasuwa confirmed to the media that he had indeed signed the contract and that he will retain the current back room staff.
The gangly coach said he was happy to stay with the club he guided to its first league title in four years.
"Everything is okay now. I am happy. I am waiting for the new season to start," said Pasuwa.
"I am starting preparations on the 9th of January. The target is to retain all the trophies that we have and to be in the mini-league of the Champions League."
While he was satisfied with the squad he had at his disposal, the title-winning gaffer said he would like to acquire a few more players.
"I will have to look around to see if we can add one or two," he said.
Despite his successful mediatory role, Chunga was uncharacteristically modest.
"As a Dynamos son and as chairman of the coaches, I felt it was important to communicate better," Chunga said.
"They should have negotiated behind closed doors and come out with a common answer."
Chunga joked with reporters that the off-season diary drought has hit the media hard that they resorted to recycle the Pasuwa story.
"It is off-season and there are no stories for the media so they will always twist stories," he quipped.
With Pasuwa's contract now signed and sealed, Dynamos yesterday announced that a two-week training programme has been arranged in Nyanga.
