Liverpool's offer for Andy Carroll turned down!
31 Jan 2011 at 14:49hrs | Views
Liverpool are believed to have had an offer of £25M for Andy Carroll rejected by Newcastle United earlier today. The news is the clearest sign yet that the Anfield side are preparing to sell Fernando Torres to Chelsea and are simply waiting for the Blues to up their offer closer to the £50M they demand.
The Reds have long been spoken of as a possible destination for Carroll, though there has been every indication from Newcastle that they will fight to hold onto their striking talisman.
Liverpool could yet return with a higher offer for the 22-year-old and it is thought Reds boss Kenny Dalglish sees the physically strong striker as the perfect foil for Uruguayan Luis Suarez who is arriving at Anfield from Ajax.
