HIGHLANDERS coach Erol Akbay says goalie Ariel Sibanda is maturing with every game and is one of the best in the country.

Bosso are top of the log with a game to spare and they remain one of the favourites for the 2017 title.

Akbay believes Ariel will be key as they go on.

"One area he is improving a lot is making sure he stops the crosses. He is doing very well for the team and I know he will continue to improve," Akbay said.

The Dutch coach's style demands that his goalie be on his toes at all times, with play starting from the back as they try to stretch the opponents.

Ariel has never had problems playing like the last men but dealing with crosses at national level has been his biggest challenge.

The Bosso coach believes the goalie can still rise to be the best in the country.

"He was called for national team. Yes, he didn't play but he deserves to be one of the goalkeepers for the country.

"The height will not matter because most of the goalkeepers in the country are short. For him, what is important is that he is effective in the box when corners are taken. That is what is more important. He has the confidence as well."

Ariel, who has in the past been called for national duty, find himself with a difficult task being number one for a team that often throws caution to the wind in search of goals.

So far they have conceded four goals in five games and the team with the best record are Black Rhinos.

Even Yadah have done well defensively with just two goals conceded.

"We have to improve but for us the most important thing will be to make sure we win our matches," he said.
