Zifa president Cuthbert Dube has been appointed as a member of the Organising Committee for the Fifa Confederations Cup.

Dube's appointment was confirmed by Fifa's secretary general Jerome Valcke at the end of last year.

"Following the announcement by the Fifa president at the 61st Fifa Congress in Zurich on 31 May and 1 June 2011, composition of the standing committees has been revised and completely restructured," Valcke said in an appointment letter addressed to the Zifa boss.

"In this connection, we are very pleased to inform you that you have been appointed as a member of our Organising Committee for the Fifa Confederations Cup. Please accept our sincere congratulations on this nomination. We will inform you about the date of the next meeting in due course. We wish you success and enjoyment in this new role at Fifa and look forward to welcoming you soon in Zurich."

Dube (58) has been at the helm of Zimbabwean football since sweeping to victory in an election held in March 2010.

Dube and his new board have battled to restore dignity and professionalism into the local game after corruption and mismanagement reigned supreme at the local football governing body.
