HIGHLANDERS' left-back Honest Moyo was not dropped from the Warriors' African Nations Championship (Chan) squad that takes on Namibia in the first-leg of the qualifiers on Sunday, but was excused as he is set to undergo trials with a top South African Premiership side.

The 25-year-old put up a polished display in the left-back position in the Cosafa Castle Cup in South Africa when the technical team pushed Ocean Mushure into an attacking midfield position.

It was Moyo's positional discipline and tactical alertness coupled with his excellent aerial strength that seems to have impressed the South African side's scouts.

"Honest was not dropped, we wanted him badly for the Chan squad because of his excellent combination with Mushure. We were however advised that he is set to go for trials this week and the club chasing him is eager to have a look at him so we were left with no option but to release him," said Warriors' manager Wellington Mpandare.

Sources close to the deal said former Warriors' midfielder Edelbert Dinha was behind the move to have the Cowdray Park-based former Luveve High School pupil play across the Limpopo.

Dinha runs Shumba Sports Management company and is a former Orlando Pirates player.

Highlanders' chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube said they had not yet received any official communication from Moyo's handlers or the interested club.

"We have not received any official communication from any club regarding any of our players, Moyo included," said Dube last night.

Other Warriors' players said to have impressed South African sides include midfielder Gerald Takwara, dribbling wizard Talent Chawapiwa, both of FC Platinum, Dynamos' Mushure and young Bosso striker Prince Dube, who has been on the Ajax Cape Town radar for some time now.
