'Bosso members dodge review'

HIGHLANDERS members have failed to meet for the crucial constitutional review meeting as agreed at their extra-ordinary mid-year meeting held in July amid reports that some board members are reluctant to see the whole process through as it does away with their positions.
Presenting their committee's work to members in July, the Bosso constitutional review committee chairperson Elkannah Dube, asked members to give his committee until the end of last month for them to finalise the document which he said was at an advanced stage but needed some final touches which he said they will be able to meet by end of August.
"We need to meet as a joint board and executive before we set up a meeting date. The document is still being looked at by both the board and the executive and we hope to meet sometime next week," said acting Highlanders chairman Modern Ngwenya when asked why the club had failed to honour a meeting resolution that members meet at the end of last month.
A member of the review committee however said they had long finished their work and presented the document to the three arms of the club which are critical, the board, the executive and the lawyers for their approval.
"To us it's a complete document and we wonder why they are not calling for a meeting for members to deliberate on it and our assessment is that some board members are deliberately drgging their feet because their existence, once the document is endorsed by members, is all but over," said a member of the review committee.
When Dube presented to members in July he made it clear that next year's elections must be held being guided by the new document and that all positions will be up for elections.
From the snippet of the document, members will elect a chairman, vice chairman and three members of the committee in line with the Fifa club licensing while board posts will be more ceremonial.
The new dispensation totally clips the powers of the board, they are becoming more of advisors than at the moment where some of them behave as if they run the club on a daily basis.
The failure to abide by the meeting resolution however is another clear indication that Highlanders meetings are more of talk shows than anything where people can just choose to do as they please with reckless impunity.
