Chapungu promise Dembare pain

CHAPUNGU coach Tendai Chikuni is determined to inflict more pain on Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title-chasing giants Dynamos, who suffered a major set-back away to Ngezi Platinum Stars last weekend.

As Chapungu take on Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow, Chikuni is flying, following a good run of results.

The Gweru airmen are coming from a victory over Bulawayo City, which completed three wins in four games for them, with a draw being their only blemish.

Chikuni is adamant that his side will not drop points in the match against Dynamos.

While his side is seemingly safe from relegation, which has haunted them for the better part of the season, he said that their appetite for the win was just as big as that of DeMbare.

"We are well aware that Dynamos want the title, but that's not our business. We need those points just like they do," Chikuni said.

"Our priority at this stage is to collect maximum points because we want to end our season on a high note.

"Last season around this time, Chapungu were deep in the relegation zone, but this season is an all-different affair. We want to end this season comfortably. They beat us in the reverse fixture and we were disappointed and we are determined to make up for that."

The airmen lost 4-0 to DeMbare in the reverse fixture in a match that experienced a 56th-minute stoppage after the collapsing of the goal frame in June before the remainder of the match was played in August.

In their last match, Chapungu collected maximum points when they beat Bulawayo City 3-0, but a date with Dynamos will always present a stern test, especially when the Glamour Boys are playing at home, as they target the much-coveted Premiership title.

On the other hand, the Harare giants lost 2-0 to Ngezi Platinum and a win against Chapungu will keep them firm in the title matrix.
