Rufaro Machingura scored two goals to help the young Young Mighty Warriors thump hapless Mozambique 4 - 0 in a 2012 Women's World Cup first round first leg match yesterday.
However, she could not finish the match when she was controversially red carded towards the end.
Emmaculate Msipa and Elizabeth Chaparangana chipped in with the other Young Mighty Warriors goals to make Zimbabwe firm favourites to make it to the second round.
The match started with the Zimbabweans dominating possession.
Strikers Rudo Neshamba and Rutendo Makore took turns to test Young Mambas goalkeeper.
It came as no surprise when the hosts surged ahead just three minutes into the game through Machingura who fired home a cross from fellow striker Rutendo Makore.
Spurred on by that goal, Zimbabwe continued to throw everything at the visitors. Eight minutes from the half time break, Chaparangana made it two for the hosts after she skillfully beat the visitors' wobbly defence before blasting home.
After the interval, the Young Mighty Warriors injected more urgency into their play with Neshamba becoming more involved in the hosts' attack.
The Young Mighty Warriors made it three through star midfielder Msipa who unleashed a long-range beauty after 53 minutes.
Machingura then completed her brace in the 59th minute after profiting from a good cross by Makore.
It was time to perform the Zora Butter dance as the players and fans joined in the famous celebration routine to mark an emphatic victory over their opponents.
The Young Mighty Warriors made some intelligent moves in the last 15 minutes with Neshamba, Machingura and midfielder Msipa heavily involved but the Young Mambas defence did not crack more.
Nine minutes from time, two-goal hero Machingura blotted the copy book when she was red-carded for an off-the-ball incident.
Coach Langton Giwa was a happy man after the match.
"We are going to work on areas which nearly made life tough for us especially in the first half. We are now looking forward to the next match. We want to qualify for the World Cup finals. We have to win in the return leg," said Giwa.
