Veteran soccer administrator and current ZIFA vice-chairman Ndumiso Gumede says he is left with two years in football before he retires.

Gumede said by leaving the sport he has been part of it for several decades would afford budding administrators a chance to take over.

"I am giving myself two more years in this industry then I am giving up football for good. I have overstayed and it is time I give the opportunity to others," he said.

Gumede said he has been privileged to officiate in other countries and this was made possible by professionalism.

"If you nurture your career path and do things in a professional manner you will not regret it. I have been privileged to officiate in a number of countries in Africa. There are about only 10 countries that I have not visited," he said.

Gumede was head of the probe team into Asiagate match fixing scandal which fingered more than 80 players and a number of administrators in the scam.

He  has held a number of posts in football including being the chairman of Highlanders Football Club.

He is regarded at the best Highlanders administer of all time.

Gumede first became chairman of Highlanders in 1978 to 1980 and then later from 1985 to 1987, and during his tenure the positives far much outweighed the negatives.

During his time Highlanders made a lot of trips outside the country almost every year. Highlanders toured Lesotho, Swaziland, and Germany.

It was during Gumede's tenure that Highlanders bought all their current properties.
