HOSTS Banket United's determined show counted for little as ZRP FC emerged triumphant in a lively ZIFA Northern Region Division One clash before a packed Banket Stadium on Sunday.

The youthful Banket outfit fell 0-1 to the visitors with Ashford Nyamajiwa finding the target.

ZIFA president Philip Chiyangwa, who was a surprise guest at the match, received a big ovation from the fans who demanded he takes a lap around the stadium with scores greeting him.

He was in the company of Hurungwe West legislator Keith Guzah and ZIFA Northern Region chairman Willard Manyengavana.

Guzah, a former Dynamos secretary-general, also served as patron of the ZIFA Mashonaland West province.

On Sunday, the ZIFA boss got an appreciation of the Division One game and the challenges the clubs in the league are facing.

Banket United, who have assembled a new team, are however, yet to register a point after suffering their second defeat in as many games of the Division One marathon.

Elsewhere early pacesetters Karoi United kept their perfect start with a 1-0 home win over Alburaak at Chikangwe while Paul "Popopo'' Chimalizeni's Mushowani Stars were held to a goalless draw by Beta and Trojan Stars and Harare City Cubs also featured in a 0-0 deadlock.

Herentals Under-19 were the biggest winners of the weekend after thumping Blue Swallows 4-2 at Manyame through goals from Cinton Jimu, Ashley Mataranyika, Salif Cheya and Clement Ncube.
