Black Leopards have released Zvenyika Makonese following a paper work mix-up that left the Limpopo club unable to register the former Zimbabwe international defender.

Since being signed late last year Makonese has not featured for Leopards, despite having been brought in to stabilise a defence that had been leaking prior to the Christmas break.

"I don't think Makonese will play for us this season," reveals Thendani Thidiela, the Leopards spokesman.

Makonese has spent the minimum five consecutive years in South Africa having joined Santos in July 2004 from Zimbabwean club Shabanie Mine.

After four-and-a-half years with the Cape Town club Makonese then moved to Orlando Pirates in January 2009.

Makonese then spent two-and-a-half years at Pirates totalling seven years in the PSL before he moved back to Shabanie Mine for a brief stay last year from where he then came back to join Leopards.
