Mighty Warriors courting Twiga Stars for warm-up

The Mighty Warriorsa have invited Tanzania's Twiga Stars to play an international friendly match in Harare next month.

Mighty Warriors' request is contained in a letter Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) submitted to its Tanzania counterpart, TFF, on Friday.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, the TFF information officer, Boniface Wambura, said the Zimbabwe ladies want to take on Twiga Stars between April 28 and 29 in Harare. "We are still working on their request, and hopefully we'll honour it," said Wambura.

For both teams, the friendly would be part of their preparations ahead of their respective Africa Women Championship (AWC) qualifiers.

Mighty Warriors will face Senegal in the final round of the 2012 Equatorial Guinea finals.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football  has named Tanzanian Alfred Lwiza match commissioner of the Africa Champions League match between El Merreikh of Sudan and Zimbabwe's FC Platinum.

The return leg match will take place on April 27 in Sudan, Wambura said yesterday.The first leg match held in Harare, Zimbabwe two weeks ago, ended in a 2-2 draw.
