Bulawayo Chiefs  2 - 1 Yadah FC
BULAWAYO Chiefs were handed their sixth successive loss in the 2019 Castle Lager Premiership season after going down to Yadah FC in a five-goal thriller here yesterday.

Chiefs are without a win or a point since the season started and are serious relegation candidates as they sit bottom of the 18-team log.

For Yadah, this was their first win which came through goals from Morris Musiyakuvi, Ralph Matema and Johanes Sibanda while Shepherd Mhlanga and Malvin Mkolo scored for Chiefs.

With the win, Yadah moved out of the relegation zone briefly into 14th place with five points from six matches.

This means local giants Highlanders and Dynamos dropped into the relegation zone in 16th and 15th place respectively ahead of their matches this afternoon.

After the match, Yadah coach Genesis Mangombe was happy with his side's first win of the season that he said was long overdue.

"We have been on the bottom of the log and we had not won since we started the season. It was very crucial for us to win and it has become our starting point. It's very hard to collect points away from home and today we managed that," Mangombe said.

"The win is a morale booster for us as we are facing Dynamos in our next assignment. With this win we know at least we have a starting point."

Bulawayo Chiefs coach Farai Tawachera was a disappointed man as his side continues to sing the blues.

"We went into the match needing nothing short of victory. We tried to play well and got goals and at one point took the lead," he said.

"After taking the lead, our players thought we had won with more than 20 minutes to go. We went to sleep and conceded two soft goals; this was due to poor mental strength. We made simple junior football mistakes."

Yadah started the match very well and opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Masiyakuvi was at the end of a flick-on from Matema before beating Chiefs goalkeeper Winston Chiwetu.

Chiefs equalised six minutes before the break through Mhlanga when he connected with a loose ball inside the box.

The home side went in front five minutes after the break when Mkolo unleashed a left footer from inside the box after Yadah goalkeeper Liberty Chirava failed to deal with a cross.
However, Matema headed in the equaliser for Yadah an hour into the match before Sibanda sealed the win four minutes later.
