Dynamos vows not to replay Wankie

REIGNING Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Dynamos have vowed not to fulfill an order by the league's disciplinary committee to have their game against Hwange replayed and will instead be content with three points being given to the miners.

The Harare giants yesterday appealed to the Zifa Appeals Committee over the Don Moyo-led PSL disciplinary committee's decision to order a replay with their heads of argument being that the three marshals who are alleged to have viciously attacked Hwange coaches Nation Dube and Mebelo Njekwa just before the league match on 6 May did not pay an admission of guilt fine, as alleged by the Moyo committee.

According to the verdict report,  the three DeMbare marshals,  Abraham Kwenda, James Dzamu and Simbarashe Zviita admitted to  assaulting the coaching duo and the admission of guilt fines they paid  condemned the Harare giants.

"We have just written to the Zifa Appeals Committee appealing against the decision to have a replay because the marshals did not pay the admission of guilt fine and besides, the incident happened well before the start of the match," said DeMbare boss Kenny Mubaiwa from the capital yesterday.

He said if PSL insist that they replay the match, his team would rather have Hwange getting the three points "because that is what they want after all but we will never troop onto the turf for a replay against Hwange".

However, the PSL's letter of summons to DeMbare stated that the club violated Order 31 of the Rules and Regulations.

"It is an act of misconduct on the part of the club where; its officials, players, servants or duly authorised (express or implied) representatives assault, threaten, intimidate, coerce, interfere, mislead or insult a match official, player, official of the league, public, Press or media or any other person, before, during or after any match.

"On the part of a player, official, servant or duly authorised (express of implied) representatives of a club, official of the league, member of the executive committee or member of any sub-committee as the case maybe, who, directly or indirectly interrupts, obstructs or disturbs the normal proceedings of a game, before, during or after a match."

The PSL disciplinary committee ordered a replay of the match at a neutral venue after nullifying the  4-2 result in which Dynamos had  won and fined them $2 000 of which half of it was suspended on condition that they do not commit a similar offence during the season.

"The result of the match is nullified and a replay is hereby ordered at a neutral venue to be decided by the PSL. Dynamos Football Club is also to meet the full costs in respect of transport, accommodation and food for Hwange Football Club for the replay which should be hosted at a neutral venue to be decided by the Premier Soccer League. The fine is to be paid by 30 June 2012," read part of the judgment.

Meanwhile, the Harare giants have blasted the league management over the cancellation of their blockbuster match against perennial rivals and in-form Bulawayo giants Highlanders which was meant to roll into action at 3pm this afternoon at Barbourfields Stadium.

The match was initially scheduled for Week Five but was postponed due to the Harare side's Caf Champions League commitments and last month's Benjani Mwaruwari Testimonial match at the National Sports Stadium.

"This is turning into a circus and as Dynamos we are not happy at all. We were prepared to play Highlanders this Wednesday because we have been inactive for a long time. Other teams have their requests listened to but when it's Dynamos, no one wants to listen," said Mubaiwa.

He shot at the league's explanation that they made that decision in view of the national team's commitments as they will be playing Burundi in the return leg of the Nations Cup qualifier on Sunday.

"Rules clearly state that a team should have at least three players and we have two, Denver Mukamba and Takesure

Chinyama, so why are we not playing our game?" asked Mubaiwa, who promised to push the league for the two giants to clash this Saturday since the national team will be playing in Harare on Sunday and there was no way their match could be a counter attraction.

With the Caf Confederation Cup group matches kicking off at the end of the month, Dynamos badly need to be in action to stay fit for their match against Angolan side Interclube set for Rufaro Stadium while playing two matches ahead of such an important tie might make them vulnerable to fatigue and possible injuries.

It has, however, since emerged  that Highlanders wrote to the league requesting the postponement of the match, saying they cannot play host to Dynamos during midweek as their cashiers are all bank employees who would be at work and the police needed time to mobilise enough manpower and security apparatus for the match.
