Moses Chunga has hinted that he might step down as Black Mambas coach after Mambas was beaten 2 - nil by Harare City in a Castle Lager Premiership match played at Gwanzura stadium yesterday.

City's goals were scored by Godfrey Nguwodzawo and livewire substitute Willard Kalongonda.

"I am speechless. I have done everything to my best ability that needs to be done for the team to win but results are just not coming our way. I think the most honourable thing to do in such a scenario is for me to step down if that is what will save Mambas. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying I am leaving, but if that is what will serve Mambas there is nothing wrong thinking along those lines," Chunga said.

Godfrey Nguwodzawo thrust City into the lead in the 10th minute when he beat the Mambas goalie with a low shot in a one on one situation after being sent clear by Trymore Nyamadzawo.

Honey Chimutimunzeve should have levelled for the visitors in the 33rd minute but he headed unbelievably over the bar from about six metres with the goalkeeper crawling having saved a Sebastian Mutizirwa stinger earlier on.

After the breather Harare City, who also lacked the cutting edge, introduced national Under-20 captain Willard Kalongonda with 14 minutes to play and the young forward was quick to justify his introduction with some brilliant runs that gave Mambas' defence a torrid time.

Kalongonda dribbled past a City defender wide on the right before sending in a cross which was converted by Nguwadzawo but it was rightfully disallowed for offside.

Two minutes later there was nothing to deny Kalongonda his assured glory as his 20metre pile drive found its way into the nets after a brilliant pass from second half substitute Crybert Muvuti.

After the match City's Bigboy Mawiwi praised his charges for collecting the three points on offer despite having played another energy-sapping encounter against defending champions, Dynamos in midweek.

"I am very happy with the result, expectations were also very high for us after we beat Dynamos in the mid week fixture. I have always said the team is playing good football but its only that we were not very consistent results-wise but I guess things are beginning to shape up," said Mawiwi.
