2011 Soccer Star of the Year finalist Cliff Sekete has joined Dynamos FC on a three-year-contract from Gunners.
Sekete, who had earlier on been heavily linked with a move to the ABSA premiership in South Africa, made the decision after getting frustrated at the lack of concrete offers from the rand-dangling South African clubs.
Dynamos chairman Kenny Mubaiwa confirmed the deal to The Sunday Mail Sport, adding that the Gamour Boys expect to up their game with the new acquisition.
"I can confirm that we have finally completed the signing of Cliff (Sekete) from Gunners on a three-year deal and what only remains for him to start playing for us is the finalisation of his registration with the PSL, otherwise he is now our player 100 percent.
"Our technical team recommended that his qualities were ideal for what we required in our team and we moved in for him. We are aware that he has generated a lot of interest from foreign clubs and if a good offer comes for him, we will not block his way as per our tradition," Mubaiwa said.
Mubaiwa would however not be drawn into disclosing the amount that swapped the player from Larfage to Rufaro, saying he was not aware of the "correct figures" as they were handled by club secretary Raymond Kazembe.
Contacted for comment, Kazembe was also evasive, but a source close to Dynamos said the deal has a provision that will see the player's former club, Gunners, pocketing part of the proceeds should he move for greener pastures either to South Africa or Europe within 12 months.
The attacking midfielder's ability can never be overemphasised. Sekete was voted one of the best 11 players in the domestic league and runner-up to DenverMukamba for the Rookie of the Year accolade last season.
He ignited a race for his signature with the country's four representatives in Caf club tournaments making enquiries but the midfielder decided to stay at Gunners for a further six months.
Sekete can play on either wing and is also at home playing in a more central role. He is a product of the famed Agatha Shanetti Academy which produced such stars as Warthe riors' Onismor Bhasera, Edward Sadomba and FC Platinum's Benjamin Marere.
The arrival of Sekete is a major boost for the Dynamos camp which faces the tough task of defending the league championship and turning the tables on Interclub in the CAF Confederation Cup in Angola next week.
The Dynamos midfield has looked lightweight after the departure of Warriors midfielder Achieford "Uche" Gutu who joined Kalmer FF of Sweeden at the beginning of the year.
With Denver Mukamba certain to join the great trek down South it is a foregone conclusion the champions needed to beef-up their squad.
