The trial of former ZIFA Chief Executive Officer, Henrietta Rushwaya who is facing charges of corruption has failed to kick off after the defence indicated that it is not yet ready for the trial.

The former ZIFA boss' defence council sought a postponement arguing that they only received the state papers last Friday.

Rushwaya is facing eight counts of corruptly concealing a transaction from a principal.

Allegations against Rushwaya arose between October to November 2007 where she allegedly organized unsanctioned trips for the Zimbabwe Warriors to various countries that include Vietnam, Jordan, Bulgaria, Malaysia Thailand and Jordan among others.

The national team lost most of the matches.

The state further alleges that the accused unilaterally organized the trips with no camping or training being conducted before the team travelled to those countries.

It is understood that the accused was the head of delegation in all the trips in violation of the ZIFA rules and regulations which require that the board and assembly members can be appointed as heads of delegation.
