Rushwaya back in court facing 9 counts of corruption

Former Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) chief executive officer Henrietta Rushwaya was back in court yesterday facing nine counts of corruptly concealing from her employers information relating to several unsanctioned Asian matches involving the Zimbabwe Warriors.
Rushwaya, who was accompanied by lawyers Jonathan Samukange and Tafadzwa Hungwe, was, however, not asked to plead when she appeared before regional magistrate Estere Chivasa.
The matter was postponed to July 24 after the magistrate said the court had already prioritised other matters ahead of the case.
Two prosecutors representing the State, Oliver Marwa and Sidwell Chinzete, had subpoenaed former Warriors goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro, ex-Zifa vice-president Tendai Madzorera and former Warriors team manager Ernest "Mapepa" Sibanda to testify in the matter.
It is alleged Rushwaya organised and facilitated unsanctioned games by Zifa in Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Malaysia, Bulgaria, China and Thailand.
