Another Gumbo fired as coach

IT'S not a good time to have a surname called Gumbo if you are a coach in the domestic Premiership.
A week after FC Platinum fired Rahman Gumbo, Tavaka Gumbo has also been fired by Hardbody. Brighton Muchambo, who was Tavaka's assistant, has also been axed following a string of poor results.
Chairman, Patrick Chikwanda, has also been swept by the tide.
Former ShuShine midfielder, Tavaka, who joined the Gweru side from Southern Region Division One outfit FC Windermere and guided Hardbody into the Premiership last year, joins a list of coaches to fall on the wayside this season.
Farai Sibanda was the first coach to be relieved of his duties at Quelaton and Rahman's flirtation with FC Platinum ended last week.
Other coaches who left their respective clubs are Moses Chunga, who quit police outfit Black Mambas, and Blue Rangers coach Misheck Chidzambwa, who quit in a huff hours before the club's 6-0 mauling by Dynamos at the weekend.
Tavaka's 13-match stay in the Premiership ended at Watosvorwa after winning just three games, drawing one and losing nine matches.
The final straw came when Hardbody lost 2-4 to Monomotapa after the team had taken a 2-0 lead at half-time before imploding in the last seven minutes of the match.
Club spokesperson, Wellington Ngulube, confirmed Tavaka's dismissal and the appointment of Usman Matimati as the club's interim chairman.
"We have noted as the club that indiscipline has been one of the reasons that the club has performed dismally and we have made changes to strengthen the team so that we can win the remainder of our games.
"We appreciate what Tavaka Gumbo did by guiding the team to gain promotion and assembling a team for the Premiership at short notice but the reality is results have not been coming and we have decided to relieve him of his duties,
"On the same note the club would also like to unveil Usman Matimati as the acting chairman since our chairman Patrick Chikwanda is a busy man and has not been with the team recently," Ngulube said.
Ngulube added that a new coach for the club will be unveiled today at another press conference but speculation is rife that former Chapungu coach, Innocent
Chogugudza, will take over from the dreadlocked mentor.
Both Tavaka and Chikwanda said they were unaware of the changes.
"I am not aware of that and I am only hearing it from you," said Tavaka.
Chikwanda said he was still the boss.
"I am still the chairman and nothing has changed. There cannot be an acting chairman when the chairman is there.
"Let me talk to (Takesure) Sibanda and I will come back to you," said Chikwanda.
