Warriors gets $100 for participating in the Botswana tournament

Zimbabwe's Warriors got the shock of their lives after they were paid out $100 for their participation in the just ended Tri-Nations tournament in Botswana.
The Warriors claim the Zimbabwe Football Association had initially promised them $750 each for the two games but were only paid $100 upon return to Zimbabwe after four days in Botswana.
The Warriors claim they had on top of the $750 also been promised a $100 appearance fee for each of the two matches but that money has not been paid out either.
"I can't believe this. This is far much less than what I get as winning bonus for playing for my club. If I had known, I should have stayed with my club rather than travel to Botswana," said one player who declined to be identified.
Some of the players say Zifa were paid by the Botswana Football Association for the Warriors' participation in the tournament but the national football federation is hanging onto their money.
However, Zifa Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Mashingaidze denied that Zifa got anything from the Botswana football body adding that what they have paid out is from their own pockets.
Mashingaidze said Zifa does not have money and what they have paid the players is what the association can afford at the moment as they are battling hard to raise money for the Warriors preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying match against Angola.
The Warriors won one of the matches 5-2 against Lesotho and lost the other 1-0 against Botswana's Zebras in the Tri-Nations tournament and are lined up for a friendly match against Zambia at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on August 8.
A week later they will also take part in a four country tournament in Uganda. The tournament will feature Rwanda, Ethiopia as well as the hosts Uganda.
