Wankie 3-2 CAPS United
CAPS United coach Sean Connor was fired Sunday night after the Harare side lost 3-2 to Wankie in a league match at the Colliery.

He sacking comes just a week after receiving the backing of the club management following the 1-0 loss to Dynamos in a Harare Derby last Saturday and two consecutive losses to Highlanders at Barbourfields and Hwange at Gwanzura.

But Sunday's loss, his fourth in a row, saw the club hierarchy finally lose patience with him. Also dismissed with Connor were his assistant Lloyd Chitembwe, welfare manager Joel Luphahla, Kennedy Nagoli and Richard Tswatswa.

The Green Machine has to find a replacement by Tuesday to start preparations for the weekend game against Highlanders.

Club co-owner Farai Jere confirmed the development.

"Yes, I have fired the entire technical team. The results have not been coming; everybody knows that, so we just have to find new guys this week," he said.

Speaking after the game, Connor who was still not aware of his fate, said: "That was a bad decision by the referee and it cost us the match."

He was referring to the 25th minute penalty which gave Wankie the lead after Daniel Kamunhenga converted from the spot.

Nyasha Mukumbi equalised for the visitors just before the break only Gilbert Zulu to put the home side ahead again with a 60th minute strike.

Leonard Fiyado seemed to have ensured Caps a share of the spoils in the 75th minute but Zulu returned to haunt United again, scoring the winner in the 91st minute.
