The Premier League trophy is to go on a three-year world tour to cities including Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Hong Kong, it was announced on Tuesday.

Barclays, the sponsors of the English top flight, have teamed up with the league to take the coveted trophy across the Middle East and Asia.

The tour will also take in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong in July, before heading to Asia, North America and Africa during the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons.

Fans will be able to take part in the free interactive experience that involves four domes, providing visitors with the chance to learn more of the history of the Premier League and its 20 club, and even have their photo taken with the trophy itself.

Premier League chief executive, Richard Scudamore, said: "We want to show the fans of the Barclays Premier League what is at the heart of our competition: the trophy itself, as that is what every player and manager competes to get their hands on; the fantastic football as played by our 20 clubs, because that is what excites hundreds of millions week-in-week-out; and the history and tradition of
English football, as that is what helps create the huge interest in the competition."
