TWO days after the Warriors cruelly crashed out of the 2013 African Cup Nations Cup, the Zifa board is today expected to receive the Asiagate report compiled by their Independent Ethics Committee.

Zifa suspended some 97 players and officials from all national team activities although about 40 players have since been cleared.

Initially 33 players, among them Ovidy Karuru, Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande, were cleared while the last batch of seven players was exonerated in the build-up to the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.

Strikers Kingstone Nkhata, Edward Sadomba, Cuthbert Malajila, goalkeepers Energy Murambadoro and Ephraim Mazarura, midfielder Justice Majabvi and defender Lincoln Zvasiya were cleared last week.

The ethics committee has missed several deadlines to release its report.

The scandal has already claimed the scalps of former Zifa employees who include Henrietta Rushwaya and Jonathan Musavengana who were fingered as the leaders.

Last month, Zifa president Cuthbert Dube revealed at the football stakeholders indaba that said Zifa were anxious to see the Asiagate issue concluded.

He said the issue had dragged for far too long and had affected Zimbabwean football.
