Mbada Cup organisers separates Dembare and Caps United

THE Mbada Diamonds Cup semi-finals will see defending champions Dynamos play FC Platinum, while Caps United face Monomotapa, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed yesterday.
This, according to the league, is because the initial draw conducted live last month had indicated that in the last four, winners of Match One would clash with winners of Match Three.
In this case, Platinum, who beat Shabanie Mine 1-0 on Saturday at Mandava, will face Dynamos who easily cruised past Gunners 3-0 on Sunday. In the second semi, winners of Match Two clash with the victors in Match Four.
This is Caps United who beat Buffaloes 2-0, against Monomotapa who overcame Highlanders 3-2.
The confusion had been caused by the rules and regulations booklet which had "typing" errors and did not conform to the initial draw in terms of how the matches were numbered from the first round to the final.
PSL chairman Twine Phiri said they were just following the original draw of the competition.
"After consulting the drawmaker Charles Mabika, we are just sticking to the outcome of the initial draw which was conducted live and reproduced by the media the following day," Phiri said last night.
Mabika said: "The document numbered the games from 1-15, which is not how the draw was conducted. We did the first round, 1-8, and for the quarter-finals, it was from 1-4 with the winner from Match One playing winner Match Three and winner Match Two playing winner Match Four."
The pick of the semi-finals is a resurgent Caps United against a stubborn Monomotapa, who have not lost to their more illustrious opponents this season, having won one league match and drawn the other.
