PLAYERS and officials banned in the Asiagate match-fixing scandal must pay $6,000 each in appeal fees after the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced a three-man appeals committee on Wednesday.
Advocates Silas Chekera and Thabani Mpofu will be joined by football administrator Chris Mbanga on the committee which will begin work immediately.
ZIFA banned 15 individuals including former Zimbabwe coach Sunday Chidzambwa and ex-ZIFA CEO Henrietta Rushwaya for life after they were found guilty of influencing players to lose matches on Asian tours between 2007 and 2010.
More than 30 others were served with bans of between six months and 10 years for their part in the worst scandal to hit Zimbabwean football.
Chidzambwa, Rushwaya and the former Premier Soccer League fixtures secretary Godfrey Japajapa - also banned for life – have all filed appeals at the High Court seeking to have the bans nullified.
